To Our Friends at Pinecrest:
In December the Holliston Golf Course Advisory Committee and Board of Selectmen unanimously awarded New England Golf Corporation the contract to manage Pinecrest Golf Club for the next three years. We were excited about 2014 as our proposal called for more than $50,000 in improvements to the golf course. Such improvements included the laser leveling of tees, the reconstruction of many cart paths and seeding of the fairways. The majority of the work was scheduled to commence in the spring with the delivery of a new fleet of golf carts.
Unfortunately, there were some minor issues with the Request for Proposal process and another bidder sued the Town of Holliston. As the Town was concerned about the legal expense and extent of possible damages from a lawsuit they chose to settle with the other proposer. Needless to say we were disappointed with their decision having managed Pinecrest for the last twenty five years. Should the opportunity arise there is a possibility we may return to manage Pinecrest in the near future.
We have offered reciprocal privileges to our membership and discount card holders over the years and we encourage those players as well as greens fee players to visit St. Mark’s Golf Club during the season. St. Mark’s is a challenging nine hole golf course conveniently located on Route 85 just five minutes from Route 9. All the tees have been laser leveled and sodded and all the bunkers have been reconstructed with new sand in the last few years. Both the cart paths and drainage has been improved throughout the golf course. Superintendent, Tim Harlan as well as a number of the pro shop staff will be joining us at St. Mark’s in 2014. I appreciate your support over the years and hope you have an enjoyable 2014 golf season.
